David B. Jubb - Chief Executive Officer

Mr. David B. Jubb has over 40 years experience in leasing, development, asset management and ownership of retail and commercial real estate. He is the President and major shareholder of Edgecombe Inc., a leading provider of real estate advisory and management services to large Canadian pension funds and other major institutional investors across Canada. Prior to assuming this position in 1995, he served as Vice President of Edgecombe Group Inc. for an eight year period.

Some of David’s major accomplishments while with Edgecombe Group Inc. during this eight year period was the acquisition of a portfolio of properties comprised of forty street-front retail centres in Vancouver that were retrofitted, re-leased then sold. Another acquisition, the Old Vancouver Library at Robson and Burrard in Vancouver, was redeveloped into Canada’s first urban entertainment centre anchored by a Virgin Megastore, a Planet Hollywood and a CTV television studio.

In January 1995 David acquired a 50 percent interest in the Direct Investment Division of Edgecombe Group Inc. Building on the company’s history, and utilizing his leadership ability with an extensive network of industry contacts, in 1997 David and Susan McGowan acquired the remaining 50 per cent of the division and Edgecombe Realty Advisors in its present form was born.

In 1999, David formed Pyxis Real Estate Equities Inc., a private real estate investment company with a 30 percent pension fund partner. Starting with a $20 million acquisition of a ten strip shopping centre in Alberta, this company grew with additional acquisitions of community shopping centres in Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Montreal and Halifax, culminating with the purchase of Ogilvy in 2000, a 134 year old icon in Montreal.

In 2002, Pyxis acquired 100% of the shares of a public company in Alberta and, after privatizing it, successfully leased up vacant space, increased tenant retention and reduced operating expenses. These initiatives resulted in the sale of the majority of these properties in 2005 at a substantial profit.

In 2006, Pyxis acquired a block of four properties on Mountain Street and a block of properties on Crescent Street in Montreal. These historic properties have been converted to high end urban fashion retail and office.

 

 

Susan McGowan - President

Susan McGowan has been with Edgecombe in its various hybrids since 1987. During the early years, while working in the field of commercial real estate investment and management, Susan spent three years working with David Jubb in the Toronto office of Edgecombe where she would analyze potential investments and prepare investment offering packages to pension funds.

In 1990, Susan relocated to Vancouver to manage a $44 million group of street-front retail properties on behalf of three pension funds. Susan also established a West Coast real estate investment office for Edgecombe in Vancouver where her real estate portfolio more than tripled to $140 million with the acquisitions of additional office and retail/commercial properties.

Since 1995, Susan has been involved with the acquisition, redevelopment and leasing of the former Vancouver Public Library building at Robson and Burrard. Robson Central is now the key retail anchor of Vancouver’s upscale Robson Street shopping district and boasts the first Virgin Megastore and Planet Hollywood in Canada. Along with David Jubb, Susan was extensively involved in attracting and securing these major international retailers. Susan also set up an affiliate office in Montreal and was involved in the acquisition of the following properties: Centre Duvernay, an enclosed shopping centre in Laval, Quebec; Ogilvy, Les Jardins Dorval and a portfolio of historic buildings on Mountain Street and Crescent Street that were rehabilitated into high end urban fashion shops.
